Faintlife

Faintlife emanates the sound of a resonating room made up of ancient wood – imbuing vibrant, tactile tones into a spacious environment of chamber pop music. The impressionistic moods of low-lit reverberations are created by Sam Shaffer (guitarist & vocalist) Math Velasco (drummer) & Robert Fowler (bassist).

Initiating from Akron, OH, it began as a home-recording collaboration between Sam Shaffer and Nate Bucher. Their debut otherworldly-pop album “UV” blossomed as a result, in the process of Shaffer moving to Chicago. Nate went on to pursue his own projects, as Sam met Math & Robert to form the 3-piece group. Their first album as a trio “Ever Was” discovered tapestries of beautifully organic tones, all recorded with traditional instruments. It was recorded by Mike Novak (of Secret Colours) at Chicago Electric Piano Company. Continuing this successful workflow, Faintlife & Novak went on to record their 3rd album “Virgin” - excavating a myriad of new orchestral additions, odder grooves & time signatures, as well as a more exploratory sense of melodicism.

Arriving at the heaviest form of fruition, Faintlife’s self-titled album set sail in 2021, unhinging a reservoir of fuzzier layers & a highly amplified energy.
