Known as a genius of incidental music and master of the cello and songwriting, Fan Tsung-pei first learned the violin as a youth before making the transition to the cello. He began to accumulate the capacity to write and arrange music during his time as a student. After finishing school, he played with Taiwan’s National Symphony Orchestra for nine years and was the first chair cellist. Fan’s delicate, heart-moving style casually wanders within classical, new age, jazz, and pop forms in playful creativity.
Ever since beginning to actively work in musical creation, Fan Tsung-pei has participated in songwriting, arranging, and performing for the music of countless films, TV dramas, theater productions, and music albums. He is one of the very few musicians who have won Golden Melody, Golden Bell, Golden Horse, and Asian pacific Film Festival awards.
