Fine Place is a dystopian electronic post-punk project formed by the Brooklyn-based duo of <a href="spotify:artist:44mVqYPHmFgrDJxv6CWrOo">Frankie Rose</a> and Matthew Hord. Their 2021 debut, This New Heaven, is filled with icy, shimmering synths and reverb-heavy vocals.
Formerly known as a member of <a href="spotify:artist:0WkO9Px6qQCM7so8lYvaCv">Vivian Girls</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5A4VWEnsa8KsbWfOUDCp6L">Crystal Stilts</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3XMOAdsw80GGQYLcVTqMF2">Beverly</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:65ewrL6LvcNGMMRVlksNGS">Dum Dum Girls</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:44mVqYPHmFgrDJxv6CWrOo">Frankie Rose</a> has moved from indie pop and garage rock to new wave and synth pop with her work as part of <a href="spotify:artist:6xYbfLIIyaRYrzO5YeHiOH">Frankie Rose and the Outs</a> and her solo albums. Matthew Hord has played in several garage punk and noise-rock bands, including <a href="spotify:artist:2gBgrL7vpTikBYBXoTj46K">Heavy Times</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6BJZguNoRoK51zrCLAZp2g">Running</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:7sWRVumHL8TdtyWcsHVNpy">Pop. 1280</a>. After Hord moved from Chicago to New York, the two musicians decided to work together and explore different directions than their respective projects. Influenced by '80s goth rock and post-punk, the two produced shadowy, synth-driven music heavy on drum machines and vocal effects.
