Flying Horseman

Flying Horseman is a unique musical collective from Antwerp, Belgium that, since 2010, has been hypnotising headphone junkies and concertgoers alike with their most original, cinematic art-rock. Drawing inspiration from many genres, their music is deeply atmospheric, often eerie, at times delicate and warm, sometimes violent and kinetic. Frontman Bert Dockx draws the listener in with his deeply felt vocals, imaginative lyrics and fiery plucking of the strings. Loesje and Martha Maieu provide layers of spooky backings and lo-fi synths. The rhythm section is adventurous and deeply groovy in surprising ways.

Throughout the years there have been some changes of personnel, with Alfredo Bravo, Laurens Duerinck, Milan Warmoeskerken and Mattias Cré all making essential contributions. On the band’s seventh album ANAESTHESIA, Flying Horseman are welcoming Louis Evrard (Pruillip, Ottla, Grid Ravage) and Maximilian Dobbertin (Calicos, Franke Fame) as new members. It’s a tight collection of eight songs, showcasing a whole range of musical styles, textures, flavours and emotions, without ever not sounding as an intricate whole. These are musical sounds capable of setting the listener’s heart and mind ablaze. ANAESTHESIA is then, among other things, a political record, born out of Dockx and his friends’ bafflement at the new rise of fascism and the current onslaught of injustice and barbarism around the globe.
