When she's not making music, the artist known as Foa (a.k.a. Kathryne Robison) maintains dueling fascinations ranging from the healing arts to poetry to "animal whispering and listening" to "somatic astronautics." All those paths somehow genuinely converge at her heartfelt songs, which function as lullabies so transporting and soothing, they often feel medicinal. On Naomi's Last Dress, Foa works with two members of the band Gardens and Villa to craft dreamy excursions that foreground the singer's tender, powerful vocals. ~ Stephen Thompson, NPR
