Francesco Cavestri (born 2003) is an Italian pianist, composer, and music communicator. He began studying piano at four and graduated with highest honours from the Conservatorio di Bologna at twenty. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston on two scholarships, then at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.
His discography includes three albums and a fourth forthcoming on Universal Music Italia. His debut, Early17 (2022), features nine original compositions written at seventeen, with trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso. IKI - Bellezza Ispiratrice (January 2024) features Paolo Fresu, and Una Morte da Mediano (February 2024) is an original soundtrack for Rai Play Sound. The albums were presented on a national tour opening at a sold-out Blue Note Milano in April 2024.
Since January 2024, Musica Jazz has named him among the "New Talents of the Year" for three consecutive years. As a music educator, he collaborates with Il Jazz Va a Scuola, and on UNESCO's International Jazz Day 2024 received the IJVAS Award in Rome alongside Stefano Bollani. In 2024 he also became a Steinway Artist, and premiered his single "Entropia" with rapper Willie Peyote at a sold-out Triennale Milano.
In April 2025, Forbes Italia included him in the "Top 100 Under 30" — the first jazz musician to receive this recognition. From January 2026 he has been on an international tour ahead of his new album (Universal Music Italia, May 29, 2026), with concerts across Europe, the US, and beyond.
