François Couture is a multidisciplinary musician who stands out because of his great versatility
and solid experience in the field. Trained as a guitarist and composer, François also has many
other skills. He is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, orchestrator, sound designer, producer and
musical director. Over the course of his busy career, he has received numerous commissions
for major events, including the Quebec Winter Carnival, the Fête de la Ville de Quebec, the
Montreal High Lights Festival and the Just for Laughs Festival. He has also won prizes and
honours around the world.
An accomplished artist, François produces, records, mixes and masters albums, short films
and soundtracks for shows, and provides musical direction for major events in Quebec and
abroad. His discography features rich and daring works that highlight Canada’s musical
heritage. They are in fact intense collaborations with Aboriginal musicians, Inuit throat singers,
string quartets, classical orchestras and choirs, along with fiddlers, folk artists and step
dancers. Always with the aim of satisfying his love of discovery, François continues to develop
his art and his experience of traditional, Aboriginal, classical, jazz and electronic music by
working with artists from home and abroad.
