Friction are John Read and Volker Janssen.
They originally joined forces to record a chill out/ambient
track for the renowned DJ Pippi from the world famous
Club, ‘Pacha’, in Ibiza, Spain.
Friction subsequently went on to record and release many
tracks on the Undiscovered Ibiza label. They have also
contributed to Ibiza’s other famous exports ‘Cafe Del Mar’
and ‘Cafe Del Sol’.
In 2008 they released their first album “Return To Calm” on
their own “Fragile Hold Records” label. In 2010 they
followed this with “Medication”.
John and Volker started off as session musicians in London,
England playing bass guitar and keyboards respectively -
they have recorded and toured with many well known
artists including: David Bowie, Enrique Iglesias, Lionel
Richie, Paul Young, Dexys Midnight Runners, Lighthouse
Family and numerous others.
