Transatlantic punk rock outfit FRIENDS WITH BOATS releases "Surprise, Surprise" on Sept 5th, fusing catchy hooks with a sobering, skeptical look at the state of the world. A reflection on everything we stand to lose through greed, division, & misused technology. “Surprise, Surprise” was recorded across multiple continents, mixed by Tim Creviston (<a href="spotify:artist:67f7GZXNMGRn98lqrtIdrN" data-name="Comeback Kid">Comeback Kid</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5e9SnnT1mabuWwjwu6FrZD" data-name="Youth Fountain">Youth Fountain</a> , <a href="spotify:artist:0OSABE1yGiZK2ALQDJ0SeO" data-name="Misery Signals">Misery Signals</a>) and marks a bold new chapter in the band’s story. With urgency, honesty & heart, FWB is a testament to how far community can carry us.
The German-Canadian FRIENDS are fueled by old friendships, deep DIY ethos, and a shared obsession with 90’s punk rock, classic emo, and no-frills hardcore. Born from a New Year’s Eve reunion in 2022, the band quickly found its connection, writing and recording their first full length album "Bumper Sticker Poetry" within just a week. Despite the 5,000 physical miles between them. hasn’t dulled their spark. "We all had different plans," the band says, "but somehow ended up here, doing this. Shoutout to life for the best detour ever."
After playing Germany whenever they can make time for it FWB hit the road in 2024 for their first U.S. tour, bringing their basement-bred energy to venues across the South, including closing out The Fest 22 in Gainesville, FL.
In a world that moves too fast into all different directions, this band is a reminder that some bonds (or some songs?) are built to last.
