Frootful

Nick Radford is a musician &amp; illustrator based in Cornwall, UK. He has worked under the name Frootful as an illustrator since 2004, releasing a couple of albums plus a few singles on Freestyle Records from 2011-2013 under the same name. The signing to Freestyle came about when <a href="spotify:artist:5e3Z7HYpiVcP3TlU0a4yap" data-name="Lack Of Afro">Lack Of Afro</a>, then on the same label, produced his first album - Nick played guitar on the first few Lack Of Afro albums &amp; toured with the live band. Before this he had recorded and performed with <a href="spotify:artist:6k9h6EBHlve9Dpgt1cHFr4" data-name="The Ambassadors of Sorrow">The Ambassadors of Sorrow</a> &amp; longtime collaborator &amp; co-writer, <a href="spotify:artist:3AQ6ero9deFslFBSenrtKX" data-name="Angeline Morrison">Angeline Morrison</a>, also playing on her 2013 solo record on Freestyle, <a href="spotify:album:1OAeG7uONoutQO61yFutMq" data-name="Are You Ready Cat?">Are You Ready Cat?</a> The debut Frootful LP, <a href="spotify:album:57gGqaEssLXS1mUYUmE5zc" data-name="Colours">Colours</a> was a Jazz FM album of the week. Kryzysztof Oktalski of <a href="spotify:artist:6gIs4hObSQJz7SfSkBBGey" data-name="Stonephace">Stonephace</a> lent his mixing chops to the 2nd album, <a href="spotify:album:0gVaRRlaM7C92qiVIGVyU2" data-name="Heavyweight">Heavyweight</a>.


In 2013 Nick &amp; Angeline signed with Ubiquity Records as <a href="spotify:artist:70NUDt5C6qLYidAap7nY3s" data-name="The Mighty Sceptres">The Mighty Sceptres</a>, working with Chris Pedley of The <a href="spotify:artist:5o5xukNIR9e7FnMEcp0bE9" data-name="Baker Brothers">Baker Brothers</a> (the original lineup of which featured as session players) &amp; Ben Lamdin of <a href="spotify:artist:3U5oimD8ITVHMJQoxypQPN" data-name="Nostalgia 77">Nostalgia 77</a> to produce the LP. The last single was a remix by <a href="spotify:artist:1TrfxjXu8quyDw05p2bacX" data-name="Kenny Dope">Kenny Dope</a> of <a href="spotify:track:3vFAl8MlrDfogwbrxMR94B" data-name="Shy as a Butterfly">Shy as a Butterfly</a> in 2016.


Tracks have received support from BBC6 Music, FIP Radio, Jazz FM, KCRW &amp; Wax Poetics, plus appearances on the hit film Magic Mike, cult US TV show Ray Donovan, &amp; Netflix series Atypical. The music showcases a love of 50s &amp; 60s soul, R&#39;n&#39;B &amp; jazz. Nick still works as an illustrator, occasionally performing live, or playing sets of original 45s at the Soul Cookin’ nights he runs with record collector friends.
