Gannon Fremin & CCREV’s tunes are heavy. The Oklahoma four-piece deals with the tough stuff of life by churning out big blasts of hard rock dusted with the red dirt roots music of their home state. Ironically, that catharsis is what makes their shows such a helluva good time. While Fremin howls about crushing breakups, toxic cycles, and unhealthy coping, the band delivers meaty post-grunge riffs to a crowd that never fails to meet their energy. “It’s loud, everybody’s crashing into each other, throwing stuff… it’s a good time” says Fremin. Camaraderie is bred into their bones. Most of Gannon Fremin & CCREV have known each other since they were kids growing up in Walters, OK. The band formed when they were teens and it’s been the same guys ever since: spending big portions of their years on the road with the likes of Parker McCollum and Treaty Oak Revival; playing festivals like the legendary Stillwater Calf Fry; and dropping projects like the perfectly titled Okie Thump EP and the local Live from Grady’s 66 Pub. Gannon Fremin & CCREV’s songs land on the harder and heavier side of red dirt, drawing inspiration from classic metal, southern rock, and punk. These days they’re sitting in with OK’s top songwriters, not to mention producer Taylor Kimball (Koe Wetzel, Treaty Oak Revival), on their way to a debut LP full of the same sorts of songs that fueled their reputation for gigs that feel less like a show and more like a rowdy family reunion.
