Best known as one half of Norwich’s post-punk dark disco duo Sink Ya Teeth, Gemma Cullingford steps into the spotlight with a sound that’s as introspective as it is danceable. Naturally introverted, Gemma used the forced downtime of the pandemic to craft her debut solo album Let Me Speak - a deeply personal, genre-blending journey made in her home studio.
Drawing inspiration from ’70s experimental electronica, ’80s electro and new wave, acid house, techno, and ’00s electroclash, her music pairs vintage synth textures with her signature vocal style to create something fresh and unmistakably her own.
Her second album Tongue Tied built on this foundation with greater confidence and clarity, earning support from BBC Radio’s Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé, Chris Hawkins, Jamz Supernova, and John Kennedy, as well as praise from Mojo, Uncut, and Electronic Sound.
Her new EP Illuminate lands August 2025, continuing her evolution through the world of electronic music.
“…sultry cuts laced with charged lyrics” - Uncut
“Let Me Speak spans the terrain between darker, left field post punk and giddy pop” - Electronic Sound
“…bubbling industrial grooves and ice cool poise” - Narc magazine
“…A really lush meeting place between cold-wave electronics and the human hands of post-punk” - Drift Records
“…perfectly suited to the post-pub home listening party as it is the sweaty darkened corner of your favourite club” - Piccadilly Records
