GG McG (Giulia Giannini McGauran) is an Australian artist, bursting out of the 2021 gates with her new single ‘Good Morning’. Written on garage band after the Australian bushfires and during the COVID19 lockdowns, it all fell into place as she tried to make sense of waking up every morning seeing the world constantly crumbling all around. From there she teamed up with long-time friend and collaborator Gab Strum (a.k.a Japanese Wallpaper) on production, Konstantin Kersting for mixing and Andrei Eremin for Mastering.
Existing in both the art and music world, McG is best known for her work as a creative director and photographer working with a wide range of artists including Tones and I, Tash Sultana, The Rubens and Saba. Her work has been showcased globally on the covers of multiple publications including Rolling Stone Magazine, on Time Square billboards and across music media worldwide. This also enabled her to continue to create the artwork for Good Morning through a series of self-portraits and film the music video with her partner in their own studio in the middle of one of the world’s hardest and longest lockdowns.
McG uses hyper-vibrant, colourful sounds and visuals in distinct contrast to the lyrics creating a more surreal world to help process our current one where every morning it feels a little like ‘the world is crumbling again’.
