An Irishman, a Frenchman, an Australian and an Englishman walk into a bar.
No, it’s not the start of a bad joke, just what tends to happen whenever Ghost Wives get together outside their west London rehearsal room.
The alternative rock band may call many places home, but they have definitely made a nest for themselves in London.
Formed in 2018 as a songwriting project between guitarist Chris Schwarten and singer Luke McInroy, the pair spent the better part of the year working on material before looking to put together a full line up.
The group were solidified in the summer of 2019 when they were joined by bassist Nic Zappa and drummer Conor McCarthy.
With all four members coming from (literally) different backgrounds, everybody is bringing their own thing to the group.
Everything from garage to goth, punk to prog and doom to dance-rock is on the table and evident in songs the band has in their arsenal.
“We all like different things, but there is definitely a big crossover in the things we do like. I guess we’re just open to doing anything as long as we all love it and makes sense to us,” Luke says.
And while the band may still be quite a fresh face on the scene with their first official releases – singles Nothing on You and Take It All – coming out in the last part of 2019, they are ready to attack 2020 with vigour, with a new EP to kick things off in the first part of the year.
