A trio from Australia, GLADES make electro-pop that's reflective and atmospheric in nature. After signing with a major label in the late 2010s, they issued their debut LP, To Love You, at the end of 2018.
Singer/guitarist Karina Wykes and multi-instrumentalist producing partners Cameron Robertson and Joseph Wenceslao met in high school in the Kellyville suburb of Sydney and later formed the band in 2015. A cover they did of Troye Sivan's "Fools" that same year brought them some attention when the pop star tweeted it to his followers. GLADES' first single, "Her (Loving You)," landed on several viral charts, and the follow-up single, "Drive," accumulated tens of millions of streams over the course of 2016. Their debut EP, This Is What It's Like, was released by Universal in October 2016. A year later, they returned with the single "Do Right," which gained traction on streaming platforms and helped push the track to number 51 on the ARIA chart. Their debut album, To Love You (Warner Music Group), was released in November 2018 and included additional synth-kissed singles "Not About You" and "Nervous Energy." ~ Marcy Donelson
