Go Fish began as an a cappella group in Minnesota with a mission to use music to follow Christ’s call to be “fishers of men.” After several years as an indie band—selling records, signing a Nashville record deal, touring nationally, and earning Christian radio success—an unexpected turning point changed everything: they released a children’s album that exceeded anything they had experienced before.
Founder, lead singer, and Dove Award winner Jamison Statema reflects, “Almost overnight, we were performing at national conferences and events for parents and children. Our music resonated deeply with families, and we realized there was a need for high-quality, gospel-centered music created for them.”
Since then, Go Fish has expanded into children’s ministry resources, including VBS curriculum, Christmas curriculum, and worship videos.
Recently, Go Fish released two new word-for-word Scripture songs, an educational Songs for Teachers series, and a new single by Statema titled A Broken Crayon.
“One of the first times we performed A Broken Crayon was at a preschool teachers conference,” Statema shares. “By the second line, people were wiping away tears. I knew the message was connecting.”
A children’s book based on A Broken Crayon was released in 2025, and Statema now speaks at schools and conferences to support its message.
