With deep roots in Watford’s DIY music scene, vocalist Steve Sears had known guitarist Laurent Barnard for many years and produced records for his punk band, <a href="spotify:artist:0LpwbxbT8dPiqUnul4ngzu" data-name="Gallows">Gallows</a>. However it wasn’t until 2016 that the duo decided to sit down and write together, wanting to really push the boundaries of their careers to date. It wasn’t long before the line-up was complete, with the addition of drummer Jack Kenny (<a href="spotify:artist:4vApur54D4XetXX1xnIAKv" data-name="Nervus">Nervus</a>/ <a href="spotify:artist:1yqdmVm2OQl4otyvIKLXA6" data-name="Blackhole">Blackhole</a>) and James Leach (<a href="spotify:artist:03mz3G1gu1GPNgAWY4qR2w" data-name="SikTh">SikTh</a>) on bass. Musically, however, <a href="spotify:artist:753lBNfu7fBooASCvuxDLD" data-name="Gold Key">Gold Key</a> bear very little similarities to their other projects. It’s a space where the musicians embrace experimentation, and revel in the unexpected.
