A Los Angeles-based indie outfit whose melodic dream pop is layered with '60s-inspired psychedelic elements, Golden Daze set up shop with the Autumn Tone label, delivering an eponymous 2016 debut which bore a more lo-fi patina, followed three years later by the slightly more polished Simpatico.

Formed in 2013 by the songwriting duo of Ben Schwab and Jacob Loeb, the two friends bonded over shared influences and a mutual midwestern upbringing. The duo's earliest experiments were more acoustic in nature, though as recording progressed, their debut took on more lo-fi and shoegaze tones. Golden Daze signed with L.A. label Autumn Tone in 2015 and delivered their self-titled debut in February 2016. Over the next couple of years, the band toured with bands like Whitney, Woods, and Twin Peaks, while working on material for their follow-up. Released in February 2019, Simpatico was an altogether more crafted affair that focused heavily on the two songwriters' blended voices and explored alternating themes of friendship and discord. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
