Formed on Ashlawn Farm, with members now spanning from Connecticut to Colorado, The Brazen Youth are an indie-folk band at the forefront of the genre’s sound. The band, consisting of Nic Lussier, Charles Dahlke and Micah Rubin, debuted in twenty-sixteen with their first full length studio album The Ever Dying Bristlecone Man, captivating audiences with cinematic soundscapes and eye watering songwriting from their very onset.
At their core The Brazen Youth seek to showcase through their work the beauty that can be found in tragedy; their records reflecting the sobering reminder that sometimes the most vibrant rainbows follow the most brutal storms. Throughout their discography the group juxtaposes churning guitars with turbulent drums, lively vocal harmonies with rhythmic piano melodies, and deceptively intricate lyricism with evocative choruses to encapsulate the maelstrom of emotions we experience in our most human moments. Often pondering life’s great questions—death, loss, and the search for a sense of belonging—The Brazen Youth seek not to provide answers for our anguish; rather, their narratives challenge us to make peace with the imperfect reality and ubiquity of the human condition.
Though what comes next may be uncertain, and misery is all but guaranteed, The Brazen Youth continue to pair haunting melodies with reminiscent harmonies, painting vivid portraits of loss, tragedy, the passing of time, and the beauty that can be found in it all.
