Gordon Earl is building a remarkable catalog of original music with a wide range of musical styles from rock to jazz to very sweet ballads. He’s a saxophonist recognized for lightning speed and a big pure tone with dynamic emotion. Gordon is also a solid pianist and synth player. He's released three albums and produced several delightful music videos, Grand Canyon Sky, Swiss Alp Spring, Santa Barbara Sunset, and San Francisco Sunrise. In 2018 he published the three movement Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra in Ab. The pandemic years were productive for Gordon. His top recent releases, filled with edgy social commentary: We Picked The Wrong God, about our climate crisis; When Bombs Fall, a tribute to Ukraine; January 6th, a haunting story; and Microscopic, a blues tune about Covid.
He made semi-finalist in multiple international songwriting competitions, with Nico’s Lullaby, and Corporate Tool, and The Database, his most recognized.
Raised in Chicago in the 60's and 70's, Gordon Earl started playing clarinet in at the University of Chicago Lab School. He studied with Chicago Symphony clarinetist, Walter Wollwage, and Gordon was first chair in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Gordon also studied jazz piano with legend Willie Pickens. In 1981 Gordon went on to study at Stanford University and performed at top SF Bay Area venues. In 2018, his career moved him back to his Midwest roots. Currently Gordon Earl can be found performing and recording in St. Louis.
