Myrtle Beach native Grant Nesmith is no stranger to the tidal-like ebb and flow of the music scene. Grant had early influences like the Beatles, which inspired him to become a musician.
Grant began writing songs, receiving hands-on experience playing in bands from Nashville to New York.
Upon returning home in 2015, he helped found the psych/surf band Ocean Forest . The band recorded 2 LPs and a live album with Silber Records before going their separate ways in 2018.
In the Fall of 2019, Grant found himself back in the studio recording his first solo album “ Between Tides.”
Grant reconnected with his country roots, mastering all of the instruments on the album. Two tracks from the album appeared in the soundtrack for the film “Broken Halos”.
Grant began recording “Dreams of the Coast ” in 2020. This album blends the psych/surf sounds Ocean Forest, the country twang of “Between Tides”, and is smoothed off with a mellow vibe. It features fiddle & pedal steel, fuzzed out guitars, and reverb soaked harmonies. Notable appearances on the album include Sadler Vaden (Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit) on guitar, along side Gene Elders (George Strait, Lyle Lovett) on fiddle.
Throughout the next 2 years, Grant and his band would spend time in the studio recording their highly eclectic and collaborative album “Around the Bend” which was released June 28, 2024.
In February of 2025, Grant released his best work to date, the 4 song EP Ghosts
