Made up of producer GRIFF and singer-songwriter <a href="spotify:artist:7en8jgc14VIUVbFOXO1tSF" data-name="Breland Michael">Breland Michael</a> , Griff x Bre (also stylized as GRIFF x BRE) is a hip-hop band from Atlanta, GA.
Griff and Bre first met in 2014 at a training center for a local retail chain. They played guitar together and formed a short-lived punk band to eventually begin pursuing different musical paths for the next few years. Griff attended the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media where he studied music production and engineering. While there, Griff became very involved in the Atlanta hip-hop scene and started focusing on composing beats and producing. Bre attended The University of North Georgia before transferring to Kennesaw State University where he finished his undergraduate degree in media and entertainment. During this time, Bre also started his solo/singer-songwriter work as Breland Michael. Through the years the two remained in contact, staying best friends.
In late 2019, Griff asked Bre to try putting lyrics and vocals to a beat he had made. The song later became the first track they finished together, “Off Days.” The duo recorded their first album from October 2019 to February 2021 with Atlanta-based rapper and engineer <a href="spotify:artist:0cnRQWfTIfor7dA6YLeI0W" data-name="BizzieMade">BizzieMade</a>. On March 22nd 2021, Griff went live on Instagram with Grammy-winning producer <a href="spotify:artist:1mceaxtjWdEmwoDVAlkC41" data-name="Zaytoven">Zaytoven</a>, who hosted their song “Drift Away.” This became their first single released as Griff x Bre and was followed by their debut album Easy Care Easy Wear, released on April 30th, 2021.
