Guernica was a metal/hardcore band from the Long Island, NY area from 2000 - 2008. From their forming, Guernica released “The Darkening of Light E.P,” in 2001, a blend of Nu Metal they jokingly referred to as “Groove Core.” In 2002, Guernica released their self-titled LP. Shortly thereafter the band parted ways. In 2003, the band reformed with a new line up, fusing the remaining members of Guernica with the rhythm section of local band “Advocate”. Lance and Steve returned, Derick Martin moved from drums to guitars, and the band welcomed Scott “Cheeseburger” Abrams and Mike Locapo. The band released a live album in late 2003 to showcase the new lineup (“Live at Munchaba Lounge”). The band went on to record their first full-length album, “What’s Lurking Inside” in 2004, still fusing their groove sound with metal. Finally in 2006, the band recorded what would become its farewell album, “Snapshots of Ignorance,” shedding some of their earlier “Groove Core” elements for a more agressive, metal core sound.

During their nearly 9 year history the band played hundreds of shows, opening for such acts as Exodus and Taking Back Sunday, and had the honor to play at the famed “CBGB’s”.
