After the release of a first EP (« There’ll be an Afterstorm ») in the spring of 2022, Guilt returns with a new setup that opens a fresh chapter on their journey. Now led by the complicit collaboration of François Custers and Pierre Van Vlaenderen, the project thrives on a new dynamic of composition between the two musicians, joined on stage by Martin Grégoire (Glass Museum) on drums. This new direction results in a musical turning point that sees the music of Guilt lurk towards more electronic textures with influences drifting towards the sound of Moderat, James Blake or Weval to name a few.
Whilst preserving the vocal identity and the careful attention to lyrics writing that made the project first stand out, the duo explores a new musical environment, whose first extracts will be released in the fall of 2023. Inhabited by themes that cross the personal struggle against mental sickness with societal reflexions on the global state of denial as a reaction towards the great issues of our time, Guilt’s music offers a prose that’s both committed and suggestive through an ever present emotional intensity.
