The music of Hamish Napier is the perfect soundtrack to the Scottish Highlands. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and producer, his music is every bit as striking, profound and exhilarating as the epic landscapes that inspire him. The son of a Celtic harpist and composer, Napier is the real thing when it comes to born-and-raised Scottish music. This is innovative instrumental World Music at its very best - the detailed production techniques echoing Nitin Sawhney and Mike Oldfield. Hamish is one of the finest traditional flautists of his generation, with a rich, expressive tone and pioneering approach. His soulful Celtic piano tracks bring to mind Bruce Hornsby, Max Richter and Philip Glass. Every one of his tracks are strongly rooted in ancient folk songs, and woven into evocative, kaleidoscopic stories featuring flutes, bagpipes and fiddles, and coloured with electronica, rock and classical elements. Napier's albums strike a perfect balance between moving, passionate airs and exhilarating, edgy dance tracks. The dynamics range from sensitive and spacious moods to highly spirited peaks.
He has worked with many of Scotland's leading artists: Duncan Chisholm, Julie Fowlis, Ross Ainslie, Jarlath Henderson, Donald Shaw, Karen Matheson and Eddi Reader.
