Hard Femme is five friends making soft queer pop with a hint of existential crisis. Raised in the Chicago DIY scene of the early 2010s, the band espouses a communitarian ethic, where decisions are made collectively and every rehearsal includes a group meal. Their last LP, 2021’s A Layer of Topsoil, was recorded together in a cabin in the Minnesota woods during the height of the first COVID winter; their upcoming record, slated for release in 2023, will offer a new set of songs to hug your friends to.
