A singer-songwriter from Kanagawa, Japan. Inspired by the 28th Grammy Awards at the age of eleven, she decided to pursue a career in music and refined her musical sensibility by studying percussion and various instruments. At sixteen, she encountered the gospel musical Mama, Mama, I Want to Sing! , an experience that profoundly shaped her artistic identity and led her to center her expression around the voice as her core instrument. She made her major-label debut in 1995, becoming one of the pioneering voices of Japan’s emerging R&B scene with her expansive, soulful vocals rooted in Black music traditions. In 2001, she began releasing music under the name Lyrico, presenting a new musical direction that blended oriental elements with contemporary R&B. She returned to her original name in 2008 and has since released 19 singles and 15 albums. In recent years, she has performed as a touring backing vocalist for SING LIKE TALKING, Tomoyasu Hotei, and Masayuki Suzuki, while also expanding her creative work through musical theater performances, songwriting, track production, and vocal arrangement.
