Havergal is Ryan Murphy, not to be confused with Rian Murphy of Drag City/Chestnut Station. The Texan architech/songwriter started penning slow-moving glitchy post-rock in the late '90s. Havergal released a handful of 7" singles between 1998 and 1999 on Murphy's own Western Vinyl label and Jukebox Records. The Trash 10" EP was released in 1999 on Elevator Bath. These releases eventually led up to the Secretly Canadian full-length Lungs for the Race. Havergal took a break from recording after Lungs for the Race was complete, and relocated to Texas from California in 2001. This transition resulted in the recording of new tracks for Elettricita. Secretly Canadian backed Havergal again by releasing Elettricita in May of 2004. ~ David Serra, Rovi
