Heavy Sigh is a dreamo/sadgaze band from Clifton, New Jersey, consisting of members Suzy Forman (vocals and guitar), Eric Scholz (bass), Gregory Maniago (synth, trumpet, and percussion), Jesse Rinaldi (drums), and Noel Herbolario (guitar). Following 2014’s My Quiet [EP], and 2016’s, two-song digital single I Wish / I Wish, the band released its debut full-length, Hard to Care, October 2nd, 2020 through Cult of Nine Records. Heavy Sigh's music features moments of quiet emotion and lackadaisical nonchalance juxtaposed with expanses of heavy, angry distortion, all coated in a dreamy wave of reverb and bathed in synth with flourishes of trumpet. It's reminiscent of both '90s emo legends as well as '80s synthpop and goth bands. The sonic space between the light, airy vocals and the powerful, resounding low end imbues the music with an eerie hollowness, while the album’s lush vocal harmonies find beauty in the darkness.
