Jessica Louise Dye, known as a NYC nightlife orchestrator and front woman of rowdy, surf rock band High Waisted, has re-emerged in 2022 as a pop luminary. Dye “steps out with grace and poise” (The Vinyl District) in her new solo project, Hello Lightfoot. Her debut single, ‘Twenty-Seven’ is “a whirlwind of colorful dance pop” (Atwood Magazine) and imbues the genre with captivating verses and an irresistible hook atop groovy production. The track comes equipped with a colorful music video that finds her navigating the Las Vegas landscape with gorgeous pink hues and an Elvis impersonator in tow.
With her second single ‘Shame,’ “Dye sidesteps the DIY surf rock chaos of High Waisted altogether to begin releasing intricate, industrial-tinged baroque pop songs (Audiofemme). Paired with a music video of glitchy found footage and saturated visuals, Dye wanders through an urban dream sequence, bleeding into images of a younger self, distorted by danger, demons and sound waves. “Shame” embodies the evolution of self, and loss of innocence.
Renowned as a guitar shredder and vocalist, along with DJing sold out rooms at New York City’s elite clubs, and hosting outrageous parties in basements, rooftops, and yachts, Dye has collected vast approval as an artist from Nylon, GQ, Noisey, Brooklyn Vegan, Consequence, Billboard, Paste, and The High Times. Dye’s third single will be released March 4th, with a party and DJ set at Home Sweet Home in NYC.
