Like a siren, Tiarlie, a 21 year old singer/songwriter from London, UK, crafts melodies that allure, entice, and endanger a listener. With a knack for rhetorical, direct lyricism and a taste for elevated, gravitated pop, Tiarlie uses low-frequency bass movements and hypnotically-danceable electronic compositions that push a listener beyond hearing what she sings, but feeling what she feels.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom’s capital city, Tiarlie was drawn toward music early. A self-taught pianist, she began writing music at fifteen. “I think I used it as therapy; I still find songwriting to be the only way I can articulate myself in any kind of cathartic way.” Tiarlie developed a fast love for the dramatic and became entrenched in London’s active musical theatre scene, performing as often as possible, the influence of which can be heard now in the profundity and insistent earnestness of her music.
Drawing slight inspiration from sad girls Lana and Lorde, rather than making power pop, Tiarlie makes powerful pop. The intention of her musical output is to keep you company - to help you dip beneath its surface, beyond the dancefloor and radio shuffle, to engage directly and vulnerably with the pain, love, and catharsis that her music has been instilled with. “I hope it makes people think and feel,” she says. Once it’s out there, the hope is that, “at least one person feels less alone.”
