HERBA MATE

The desert is in Romagna - Italy: from here comes Herba Mate, a desert-stoner trio born in 2001 and formed by Andrea Barlotti (guitar), Alessandro Trerè (bass/voice), Ermes Piancastelli (drum), three friends who grew up in Castel Bolognese (RAVENNA). They decided to form a band taking the name from the herbal tea, which most of the Argentinians are addicted to.

In August 2009 "The jellyfish is dead and the hurricane is coming” CD came out: flinty sounds and psychedelic dynamics refer straight to the sound of holy masters like Kyuss and Fatso Jetson, creating deep-impact songs, destructured tunes and free-form arrangements with a strong tendency to psychedelic rock.

In the following years HM had an intense experience on stage sharing the stage with Fu Manchu, Brant Bjork, Pontiak, Damo Suzuki, Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man, Psychic Ills and many more artists.

From the land of cactus to the land of Sangiovese, from California to Romagna (Italy), in 2014 Fatso Jetson and Herba Mate had joined together in the split album “Early Shapes”, a mix of desert, stoner, psychedelia, romanticism and thundering visions.

THE OBELISK wrote “Early Shapes is impressive both to hold and to hear”… “pairing remarkably well for the sincerity of their approaches and the immersion of what they create”.
