This British funk group started under the name of the new Hot Wax in the mid 70s, after the new line-up, including members of M-Lights & Feedback. The name was later changed to Hi-Tension. Trumpeter <a href="spotify:artist:4YokJY1Jtyc55KBPtzmljG" data-name="Guy Barker">Guy Barker</a>, trombonist Peter Thomas, Saxophonist Ray Carless and saxophonists Bob Sydor, and Ray Alan Eko were part of the lineup on studio recordings and live shows. Despite having an energetic, catchy sound, they never made much impact on American shores, although they were successful in Britain. "Hi-Tension" and "British Hustle" were big English dance hits in the late '70s. They resurfaced with an altered lineup in the mid-'80s on Streetwave.
