High Wasted Genes is a Connecticut-based band blending the raw energy of pop punk with the introspective edge of emo. Vocalist/guitarist Chris Vere and bassist Jim Carlson have been friends and bandmates since childhood, cutting their teeth on bands like Blink-182, Green Day, and New Found Glory. The two went on to play together in several projects, most notably the Connecticut emo/post-hardcore band Under a Falling Sky, which built a devoted following across the Northeast in the 2000s.
Drummer Pat DeLeva (formerly of CT pop-punk outfit Fourth and Goal) and Chris have spent the last decade writing and recording together, laying the groundwork for what would become High Wasted Genes. The lineup came full circle with the addition of lead guitarist Matt Mauro (These Green Eyes), solidifying a sound rooted in punk that fuses melodic hooks, emotional grit, and modern edge.
