Based out of Calgary, AB, Canada, Hip Hip Thursday formed organically as a cooperative of six musicians who met at the weekly jams on (you guessed it) Thursdays. The resulting project maintained a creative space to speak truth to power and as a band, they reflect the diversity of talents Moh’kins’tsis has to offer.
Hip Hip Thursday blends the rich, improvisational essence of jazz with the rhythmic, lyrical, and cultural depth of hip-hop in a six piece arrangement. Creating a unique soundscape that honours the traditions of both genres while charting new creative territories. With influences of funk, indie, and rock. HHT’s music is about storytelling, emotion, and connection to important events and realities of the world around us. They do all this, whilst still remaining 'Hip as f*ck'
