Neoclassical composer and pianist Holly Baines has crafted a distinct style that blends soundtrack-esque melodies with classical embellishments and emphasises improvisation. She plays what she feels, and uses the language of music to communicate stories, express emotions, and connect with her listeners' experiences.
Although she is now living back in the UK, Holly was born and raised in New Zealand. She says that her Kiwi upbringing gave her a love for the beauty of nature and a pioneering spirit, whilst her British heritage gave her a whimsical longing for a time gone by and an appreciation for the arts, rain, old books, and yet-older sites of historical importance. These, combined with her strong Christian faith and her incredibly supportive family, have all inspired different aspects of her creative journey and crafted her compositional techniques into what they are today.
Baines hopes that her music helps her listeners to express what often cannot be said in words, and that it brings some peace into an all-too-often chaotic world.
