Starting in 2016, Hopout initially began as a simple pop punk trio. With Nick Zimmerman playing guitar, Tyler Raihl taking up bass, and Alex Gibson on drums. While the three were covered on the baseline instruments, the matter of who would front the band was still up for discussion. In the end, they decided they would simply split the lead vocals among all three members. This decision, while a bit unorthodox, allows for an interesting spin on the modern day interpretation of the rock and punk subgenres that they frequently like to write in. Since they divide up who could be singing the mainline, this frees up each individual player to not only shine in the spotlight of singing, but also to allow for more complexity in their instrumentation. And they are no strangers to new ideas. In their most recent set of releases starting with their biggest hit, "Bad Luck", we start to see heavier use of electronic sounds. Hopout has always tried to keep themselves fresh and while they would describe themselves as a rock band, they are not above leaving the genre entirely to suddenly break out in a Jazz groove fronted by a silky smooth saxaphone solo.
The three members of Hopout have a long history of music going all the way back to early childhood. They have a deep love for not only making music, but performing it as well. They Have played alongside the Likes of We The Kings, Less Than Jake, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Bunny The Bear, among many others.
