Growing up in Butternut, Wisconsin, Hugh Masterson lived a very rural life in a tiny town. Music lead him to Tennessee, where he continues to hone his sound - Midwestern bounce and jangle coupled with Nashville wail and grit. It’s easy, it’s familiar, it’s twangy-goodness, pedal-steel Southern rock. On arrival, Masterson was quickly embraced by the East Nashville community, befriending and touring with artists such as The Lone Bellow, Margo Price, Nikki Lane, Anderson East as well as recent runs with Linda Ortega and The Bottle Rockets. Additionally, he’s drawn attention from the Americana Music Association, CMT, KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” Rolling Stone, World Café, and South by Southwest. Masterson is currently at work on his second solo album, to be released this year.
