Inspired by the Velvet Underground (especially lead vocalist Bob Pfeifer) and the angst-ridden post-punk of Joy Division, Human Switchboard debuted in 1977 with an EP produced by Pere Ubu's David Thomas. Human Switchboard Live was released by the band three years later (although it resembles a bootleg), after which the group released their only LP, Who's Landing in My Hangar? After yet another live album, Coffee Break!, this one consisting of radio broadcasts, the band promptly disintegrated. Pfeifer (who later landed an A&R position at Epic Records and went on to serve as president of Hollywood Records) released one solo album five years after the breakup, and keyboard player Myrna Marcarian later released an EP using only her first name. ~ John Bush, Rovi
