"hyangni" are a musical duo hailing from the vibrant creative neighborhood of Hongdae in Seoul, South Korea.
Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Jee Hyang and guitarist and bassist Jun Kyu, met in high school while attending the same music program. They went on to attend the same music college, studying jazz musicianship.
While Jee Hyang developed her identity as a solo artist named "hyangni", Jun Kyu watched from afar, admiring her fierce sense of self-expression and the unique genre-bending style of her compositions. Not long after, the two joined forces- Jun Kyu’s experience as a successful session musician for major Korean pop stars meant he had a lot to offer, both behind the scenes and on stage.
After releasing three full-length albums, each evolving in style but still remaining true to the distinctive personality of "hyangni", the band looks forward to expanding their presence globally. Slotted to perform at a number of international festivals, "hyangni" is ready to spread their unique genre of charming and infectious indie music to dance floors around the world.
