Melbourne via Perth dream pop band HYLA have just released their next single from their imminent third album 'In The Green Shade'
‘Olly Carp’ is a swirl of harmonic vocals and fuzzed out guitars, pulling on nostalgic threads reminiscent of 90s psych rock. Externally, the music shimmers. The layers of cascading guitars echo bands like Warlocks or Chameleons, with an uplifting rinse and gloss across the dreamlike vocals.
In The Green Shade will be the band’s third album, following on from
OSAKA produced by Sam Ford (Pond, Peter Bibby), released in September 2017 and 2021’s
Caravel.
HYLA are Alex Hayes, Rob Stephens and Michael Antonas.
