Shaking preconceptions and setting out a glorious statement of intent come the aptly named Outsiders spearheading a burgeoning musical scene in the UK’s most northerly city, Inverness.
Iain McLaughlin has lived in Inverness most of his life and in recent years has established himself as an integral and dynamic part of the city’s musical environment as a performer, producer and owner of independent label IMOUT Records but is perhaps best known for his role fronting The Outsiders.
It’s the live environment where the band’s reputation has been earned. Delivering layer upon layer of sound and melody, infused with a darker, dirtier aesthetic. At the core, a sense of unabashed honesty that defines them not only as a group, but as individuals. It’s a sound that also draws on the big skies and wide horizons of the North of Scotland, music that could only come from where it was made .
