With the warm breezes of Bim as the soundtrack of his young life, it was no wonder that eleven year old Ian Boyce picked up a bass for the first time and started on his own musical journey. Soon little Ian and his bass gave sonorous character to the soulful gospel band in his quaint church in the parish of St. Thomas, Barbados. By the time he was a senior in high school, his musicality was recognized on the local circuit and was on the road with one of The Island’s top Gospel bands. Ian toured the Caribbean extensively performing with some of Barbados' best artists most of whom have opened for and shared the likes of international super stars Kirk Franklin, Jessie Dixon, Shirley Ceaser, Bobby Jones, Hezekiah Walker, Morgan Heritage and Barrington Levi to name a few.
While in Barbados he also worked alongside the Grammy nominated producer, Nicholas Brancker as his studio engineer, producing for some of the caribbean's best, (Square One & Krossfyah from Barbados, Machel Montano & Atlantik from Trinidad, SSW from Suriname and Dread and the Baldhead from Antigua)
In 2005 Ian relocated to New York City to further pursue his career in the music industry and has sessioned with many independent artists in the genres of Pop, Gospel, Reggae and Rhythm and Blues. Ian was the lead bassist for the Emmy Award winning Mama Foundation of The Arts; producers of the musicals Mama I Want To Sing and Sing Harlem Sing.
