“Nacho Amil is a pianist who has a true appreciation for the history and tradition of jazz while looking ahead to the future. All this while blending elements from his native Argentina in to a organic whole. Beautiful music!” — Frank Carlberg
“Nacho Amil has a beautiful heart-felt quality to his music. His touch on the piano, his sense of harmony, and his use of dynamics all contribute to this. With his Argentinean background, and his use of ideas from a range of musical styles, he brings a different and fresh perspective to the music. Check him out!” — Rory Stuart
Praised by the local press for his “high-level jazz discourse” and “precise, expressive arrangements,” Nacho Amil is a New School alumnus who studied with Kenny Werner, Richie Beirach, and Reggie Workman, and has performed with Melisa Aldana, Leo Genovese, Daniel Dor, Rotem Sivan, and the Darmon Meader Quartet. Active in Buenos Aires, he has collaborated with Juan Quintero, Noelia Recalde, An Espil, Pipi Piazzolla, and Ernesto Snajer, among others.
In 2021 he premiered Antek Suite, a symphonic work dedicated to his grandfather, a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps. The piece blends Argentine sonorities, contemporary classical writing, jazz harmony and audiovisual elements.
With singer Flor Bobadilla Oliva, Nacho released Cipsela and He de morir de cosas así, reimagining Latin American repertoire through a contemporary-jazz lens.
