iji is the long-time, moniker of West Coast, pop-music bard Zach Burba. For over 15 years Burba has traveled the US crooning his absurd observations with a rotating cast of likeminded music originals. Inspired by a diverse bag of New Wave unknowns, AM Gold Songsmiths, King Calypsonians, Prog-Pop Dreamers, and Speculative World-Builders, iji’s catalog is brimming with original and inviting music. Since moving from Seattle to LA in 2020 Burba has spent his time collaborating with Dear Nora and Mega Bog, and recording songs for the next influx of iji songs.
“Automatically” by iji, recently announced will be out on Sept 20th, 2024 from We Be Friends Records. The album sees Burba flaunting a new, stripped-down sound, with backing by friends from Mega Bog, Big Thief, Dear Nora and The Lentils.
