Melding the ambient soundscapes and fractured electronica of late 90's garage with warmly spellbinding melodic incantations and an air of post-millennial unease, I’lls(pronounced 'Isles') have been quietly winning over a growing league of fans, fellow musicians and tastemakers. Since their inception in 2011, the Melbourne three-piece of Dan Rutman, Hamish Mitchell, and Simon Lam released debut EP Thread, 2013 follow-up EP A Warm Receptionand single Fifty-Phiphti / Asakusain 2014. The patient and evolving output has found them listened to by an ever growing and expectant fan base as well as become word of mouth favorites in their native Australia and across music sites worldwide.
The EP Can I Go With You To Go Back To My Country finds I’lls at their their most adventurous and fully formed yet. As its simultaneously naive and convoluted title suggests, the EP's six tracks deal with personal subject matter in indirect and shape-shifting ways. Evocative moods of deep reflection and intrigue are conjured via modular and classic synthesizers, homespun sampling and recording techniques, over which hover simultaneously tuneful and hypnotic vocals.
