<a href="spotify:artist:6CykYc1T8hkFnbz97jpjxG" data-name="Illustrious">Illustrious</a>, born Jacob Godfrey, was raised in San Martin, CA. He found his place in the local hardcore scene drumming, then progressed to recording bands as a side hustle. In 2019 he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue music as a full-time career. In 2021, he founded Ill Intent studios in Burbank, CA, after engineering full time already at Slime Vault Studios &amp; then Da Kastle starting early 2019.

After deciding to dedicate <a href="spotify:artist:6CykYc1T8hkFnbz97jpjxG" data-name="Illustrious">Illustrious</a> as a passion project &amp; sideline engineering, he joined his incredibly quickly rising band <a href="spotify:artist:1s4mzMhi7qVy1IkrcVGs7p" data-name="whatsdysmorphia">whatsdysmorphia</a> in October 2022 as lead vocalist, a very full circle moment for the young metalhead turned audio engineer. The 5 piece &#34;metadeath&#34; group quickly gained local &amp; national attention with its chaotic, genre bending music - as well as non-stop nationwide tours &amp; performances.

In early 2024, Illustrious amicably parted ways with <a href="spotify:artist:1s4mzMhi7qVy1IkrcVGs7p" data-name="whatsdysmorphia">whatsdysmorphia</a> &amp; is now residing in Southern California.

He is currently running &amp; head engineer of aforementioned Ill Intent Recording Studio. Though he is back in his roots of engineering - Illustrious still remains a passion project &amp; serves as a story of his emotional journey navigating relationships, love, the industry, betrayal, &amp; more.
