The imKENNETHY project tells a story of ongoing self-actualization – testing the boundaries of what makes you "you." A first-generation Taiwanese American that grew up in the Chicago suburbs listening to Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, and Chief Keef on local radio stations, who moved to Southern California, where his college town of Isla Vista was captured by his old-school rap flows, sample chops, and eclectic production.
In Isla Vista, his single <a href="spotify:track:2z4zXrtsB4hPduYvmTqBDB" data-name="Paris">Paris</a> & bodies of work such as <a href="spotify:album:6Mxdk9OEXfI9UdS1mPGKaP" data-name="Serendipity">Serendipity</a> in 2023 became local classics. He followed it up with the <a href="spotify:album:4czhGI2raBzC7Jp2WctSwI" data-name="If Only In Plain Sight">If Only In Plain Sight</a> EP in 2024, featuring tracks with an ear-candy quality that combined the groovy, upbeat production styles of Kaytranada, Channel Tres, and Anderson Paak with 90s style lyrical rap flows.
In 2025, imKENNETHY has been gaining buzz for his upcoming album, CALIFORNIASIAN with teaser singles such as <a href="spotify:track:5Q15WD49GNAdJZZTCJHZPp" data-name="Californiasian">Californiasian</a> and <a href="spotify:track:3nf3PWC3LHKeGbf4nD3Hrs" data-name="She Wanna Fly">She Wanna Fly</a>.
