Indigo Mckeon’s music project is a folk rock, dream soaked vision created with love, empowerment and raw emotion. She draws influence from musicians such as Carole King and Angus & Julia Stone, and poets Rupi Kaur and David Whyte. When listening to the lyrics of her music, Indigo’s obsession with poetry is easy to recognise.
In 2019, her debut single, Cyclone, was released and has now amassed over 50,000 streams on Spotify alone. The most sentimental project she has created was released in February of this year. This EP, Joy, was named after her Nan and features art by Sussanna Watterston ; both passed away from cancer. Indigo describes the finished project as “a tribute to both of them”, immortalised through four tracks suffused with love and care. Her latest release, ‘Rose and a Daisy’, was originally written as a poem three years ago when she was just fifteen. It’s now a beautiful song that embodies her essence entirely.
Indigo performs live as part of a captivating four piece band; Liam Wiseman (guitar), Aiden Thornley (bass) and Jack Harrison; also known as Blue Captive (drums and backing vocals). The band has performed at venues all through Melbourne City and The Mornington Peninsula. Live, Indigo and her band beguile through a blend of angelic vocals and impressive instrumentation.
