Ingrid Berg Mehus is a Norwegian violinist and singer blending the raw beauty of folk music with the freedom of improvisation and contemporary sounds. With her debut album Skuggenatten releasing in fall 2025, she returns to her roots—reimagining traditional tunes through a modern, personal lens.
Ingrid’s musical journey began at age 7 with the violin and the rich traditions of Norwegian folk music. She later studied classical performance at Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, before stepping into the vibrant nightlife scene, performing at concerts, clubs and events. That path eventually led her to explore improvised music, where she found new artistic freedom.
In 2019, she was one of 10 selected artists in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix with the song Feel, which she co-wrote with Bjørnar Hopland and Anthony Modebe. Since then, she has deepened her expression through studies in folk and improvisation at the Norwegian Academy of Music, while continuing to develop her own sound through various collaborations and projects.
With Skuggenatten, Ingrid invites listeners into a landscape of shadow and light—where the ancient meets the experimental, and where her voice and violin guide the way.
